Firstly, let see what is desiccated coconut?
Normally desiccated coconuts is coconut flesh or meat that has been flaked or shredded and dried.
You mean come up with second question, what’s the difference between shredded coconuts and desiccated coconuts?
Shredded coconut is “grated” bits of coconut, usually in long thin strips/strands. They are then dried out, but still, retain more moisture than desiccated coconut.
Shredded coconut is an ingredient you can see in shops. Aside from the fact that it is delicious, coconut is also keto, low-carb, gluten-free, nut-free, grain-free, and more. Making it a fantastic allergen-friendly pantry option.
Desiccated coconut is finely ground coconut, rather than bigger strips. This is also usually drier than shredded coconut. Unlike coconut flour, though, desiccated coconut maintains the fat content – so they can’t be used interchangeably.
How to make desiccated coconuts? do you want to know it? Here is the basic 3 steps:
1. Remove the hard outer shell of coconuts by coconut deshelling machine.
check the below video.
Peel the soft outer shell with a bway coconut peeling machine.
2.Grate the fresh coconut meal according to desired result by bway coconut shredder machine from 15years manufacturer. Alternatively, for the chips, you make the flesh more thicker and bigger. check the video below.
3.Dry in oven or dehydrator. We dried the small and medium shreds in a 100 – 125 °F convection oven (40 – 50 °C) for 2 hours (small) to 3 hours (medium). For the chips, you can also use the oven, but we dried them in a dehydrator for approx. 6 hours.
